Jin Xiangyi was born and raised in wenzhou, China. She studied the photography in Beijing Film Acadmy, then she gone to France for study art and cinema in beaux-art du nord and Sorbonne Paris 1.
She always fascinated by the themes of life and death, departure and return, farewell and reunion, homeland and diaspora, the independence of a woman's life, etc. These themes are like autobiographies reflecting her personal life. She uses the photography and the cinema to find answers, to heal herself.
