A woman return to her hometown, a girl wants to leave her hometown.

Synopsis

The story takes place in Wenzhou, a small town on the southeast coast of China. More than 300,000 Chinese immigrants in France have come from this region.

Photographer Wan Ye returns to her hometown after many years in France and hopes to stay. A young girl “Little Tiger” wants to go to France for a new life. What happened in their hometown make them can not get their wishes.

Statment

The reason why I want to make this film is its themes of identity, self and the female gender. The story takes place in my hometown, Wenzhou, a coastal city in Southeast China. The ancestors of more than 300,000 Chinese-French now living in France came from Wenzhou which shares long historical ties with France. Wenzhou is a humid and mysterious place, with ancient local languages and a closed cultural background. Here is where I grew up and where all my stories are rooted.
